Welcome to SPACE

Rooted in equity. Driven by creativity. Powered by people.

What We Do

🛠 Train 18–24 year olds through a one-year Social Enterprise Management apprenticeship — placing them with ethical, values-driven business mentors.

👣 Embed in local areas through relational outreach, creative assets, and embedded conversation spaces.

👨‍👩‍👧 Co-create projects like SPACE:PRINTLY, the youth-led merch studio, and SPACE:WALK, our intergenerational walking movement for social reconnection.

🌿 Build shared power — through community time credits, open meetings, and storytelling as accountability.

Our Values:

Care - We meet people with hospitality, not hierarchy

Agency - Young people shape the curriculum and lead decision-making

Clarity - We name systems: austerity, extraction, injustice

Imagination - We design futures based on need — not limited by the present

“SPACE isn’t a service. It’s a system — for belonging, building, and becoming.”

If you're tired of temporary solutions, extractive models, and well-meaning work that doesn’t shift the dial — come build with us. We’re growing gardens where the system left gaps.

SPACE is a living, breathing social enterprise ecosystem — rethinking what community infrastructure can be in a world shaped by austerity, burnout, and exclusion.

Founded in Hertford and seeded by lived experience, SPACE activates everyday places — from Uber rides to corner shops — as spaces of care, learning, and transformation. It’s not just about service delivery. It’s about shifting power, amplifying working-class intelligence, and building something collectively owned from the ground up.

Whether you join us as an apprentice, supporter, partner or local steward — SPACE is here for those who believe real change starts with relationship, and grows through action.

Our Mission

To build a cooperative platform where community members — especially young people — can design, govern, and sustain the social structures they deserve.

This is community enterprise reimagined.
